# Week 8 (Oct 28 – Nov 3)

This week, the team prepared for the Alpha code presentation on Wednesday November 4th. We finalized 4 distinct enemies, and completed the level design for one level. In preparation for the presentation, we also conducted playtesting sessions on our Alpha prototype, and will be using the feedback to make any necessary changes for the Beta.

For me, this week I worked on importing the animations created by Tim. Following the same tutorial as in Week 6 (opens new window), I created Animator Controllers for the player’s moth model, as well as the enemy arm and drone models. I also created the main menu screen. Currently it is still just a mock up and not the final design, so moving forward we will have to decide on how we want to display this UI. After last week’s lecture on game UI, it will be an interesting discussion as to whether or not our game requires any UI elements. Currently there is text that displays the player’s current stamina and number of deaths, but they sort of take away from the game experience. We will try and deliberate as to how we can communicate these using diegetic or non-diegetic UI.

Moving forward for the Beta, we will continue to work on more level design, and have a more complete game experience. We may also create other shell menus, such as a pause menu or options menu, but these may be additional features that we do not deem as necessary, until the final deliverable.
