# Week 2 (Sept 16 - 22)

In our second week, the team worked on creating a mood board for visual, environment, and character design. During our meeting, we also talked about other video games that we could draw inspiration or research from. Moving forward, our goal is to create mock ups that we can present to the other members that will help visualize how we each see the game coming to life.

This week, I contributed four mood boards on environment and character design. Since there isn’t a strong 3D modeller in the group, we are aiming for a low-poly or easy to render models. Using Google, I searched for various reference images that looked feasible, given our limited experience and project timeframe. I really like the models from the forest/campfire collage, as I think they are realistic for our project. The one issue is that it might seem a little too cartoonish if we use this style, and might not fit well with an eery aesthetic.

Another model that I think could be achievable is the moth collage. The centre image looks like it is very minimal and easy to model. The four images surrounding it are different ideas for skins or cosmetics we could award to players. The issue that I am worried about with the modelling of the character is how we are going to animate the flapping of wings, since that is something that I have not done before.

Having taken IAT 343 Animation in the past, I have some experience with modelling 3D objects in Maya, so I am somewhat confident in my skills. Moving forward, I will be looking at online tutorials for how to create a basic 3D game in Unity, and see if I am able to import 3D objects from Maya.
